How to use License Manager in PLATO Courseware and Edmentum Assessments

Explanation

The License Manager offers a snapshot of the total available concurrent, consumable, reusable, named user, and site licenses, and allows Account Administrators to manage license distribution. The concurrent and site licenses can be reserved and unreserved to programs. The Reusable licenses can be assigned and unassigned to learners. Once the named user licenses are assigned to learners, they cannot be unassigned.

How To

Concurrent Licenses

Concurrent licenses allow a fixed number of users access at any given time so one license can be used multiple times throughout the day. Concurrent licenses allow for a fixed number of users to access resources at a given time. Concurrent licenses allow you to reserve licenses for the program. The unreserved licenses are shared by the account.

Follow these steps to reserve or unreserve a concurrent license:

  1. Log on to account with admin credentials
  2. On the Administration Center page, click the Licenses tab.
  3. On the Licenses page, click the Concurrent tab.
  4. In the Reserved Licenses column, click the row for a program to reserve licenses.
  5. To unreserve licenses, click the row for a program in the Reserved Licenses column and enter zero (0).

Site Licenses

Site licenses grant access to all learners within a program. Because these licenses are active, they do not need to be assigned, reassigned, or redistributed.

Consumable Licenses

Consumable Licenses are licenses designed to be consumed by self-enrolled learners, but learners can also be manually enrolled by the Educator. Access is provided to a specific Learner to a specific piece of content.

To use consumable licenses with a class, check the Use Consumable Licenses box upon creation of a class or assignment. Any students added to this class either through self-enroll or manual enrollment will use a license upon launching an activity in the class content. There is no add/drop/withdraw period.

Note: This setting cannot be changed after the class is created.

Reusable Licenses

Reusable licenses are reserved for individual learners. They belong to individual learners for use while progressing through a class. The Account Administrator can reassign available reusable licenses to learners or remove licenses from learners at any time.

Follow these steps to assign a reusable license to a learner:

  1. On the Administration Center page, click the Licenses tab.
  2. On the Licenses page, click the Reusable tab.
  3. Click the Assign button
  4. Select the learner(s) you want to assign the licenses to.
  5. Click the Assign button.
Note: As you assign the licenses to learner(s), the balance of available licenses count is displayed at the bottom of the Assign licenses to Learners page.

Follow these steps to remove a reusable license from a learner:

  1. Click the Reusable tab.
  2. Click the Unassign icon under next to the learner whose license you want to remove.
  3. Click the Yes button in the confirmation message.

Named User Licenses

The named user license is associated to a specific student in the account.  With this license, the student can access any and all assessments assigned to them, as well as the associated prescriptions.  Flex Assignments assigned to this student will also be able to be accessed.

Note: Named User Licenses are only available in Edmentum Assessments
