How to edit the calendar in a Global Language course to align with school calendar

Explanation

When setting up a Global Language course, the calendar can be configured to allow for holidays, school breaks and when Learners will not be working in the course. Gradeable assignments that aren't completed on the date assigned are marked past due. By adding an event to the calendar, the scheduled lesson(s) are automatically moved to the following day(s) and remain in course order.

How To

  1. Click the Calendar icon.
  2. Go to the month and date you want to add a new event.
  3. Click the yellow star underneath the assignments for the day.
  4. Enter a title for the event (such as a holiday, school event, etc.).
  5. Enter the start and end dates of the event. If the event is for one day, put the start and end dates for the same day. If the event is for multiple days, put the day when the event starts and when it ends.
  6. Enter a description for the event if necessary.
  7. Put a check mark in the box for Vacation. This will automatically move all lessons assigned during on the event days to the following days while remaining in course order.  If no check mark is placed next to Vacation, the lessons will not move to the following day and will stay assigned on the event day marked as past due.

Note: The end date for the course will be extended as events are added to the calendar.

  1. Click Save to add the event to the calendar. The event will display and all assignments will be moved to the next day.

What's Next

The calendar can be condensed or expanded to align with your school calendar, which means lessons will not be assigned when Learners are not in class. As a result, lessons will include more or less assignments each day to align with the specified time frame for Learners to complete the course. Adding events to the calendar is a prerequisite to shortening or lengthening the course. See the link below for more information:
