Edmentum LTI Implementation Features and Limitations

Explanation

LTI allows Edmentum Content to be presented within your host Learning Management System (LMS). Many activities are accessible over LTI, but not all content and features are compatible. Many features of the Edmentum PLATO Courseware platform are unavailable within the LTI framework. The grid below outlines the available functionality.

LTI Features

  • Externally access your licensed Edmentum content from within 3rd party Learning Management systems, such as Canvas, Moodle Etc.
  • Full support for LTI 1.1 and 1.2 standards
  • Automated progress return for Edmentum content (assumes Host LMS support)
  • View learner progress for LTI assignments
  • View learner time on task for LTI assignments
  • Teacher content preview for new and existing assignments
  • Export LTI standard compliant Common Cartridge versions 1.1 and 1.2 for Edmentum Content (Please note this differs from SCORM and QTI exports)

Content Types Available and Grading Data

LTI will allow access to the following activity type:

Content Type Status Grade/Date Return
Modules (A package containing a Tutorial, Mastery test, and sometimes Application items.) Modules containing a Tutorial and Mastery test may be assigned within the Host LMS as an assignment which returns a single Pass/Fail grade. A Pass/Fail grade is provided for completed Modules. Mastery test demonstrating understanding of concept may be retried once Student retries Tutorial
Pretests Pre-tests may be assigned as an Assignment in the Host LMS. Assessments may not be reset, and must be re-assigned in the Host LMS in order to retry. Exemptive functionality is not supported by the LTI standard. A percentage grade is returned to the Host LMS when complete, assuming the Host LMS is configured to receive LTI grades.
Post Tests Post Tests may be assigned as an Assignment in the Host LMS. Assessments may not be reset, and must be re-assigned in the Host LMS in order to retry. A percentage grade is returned to the Host LMS when complete, assuming the Host LMS is configured to receive LTI grades.
